Catedrático de Econometría de la UCM desde 1999. Profesor del CES Cardenal Cisneros, CUNEF, Universidad de California en San Diego (UCSD), Isabel I, IEB e IE.

Ha impartido conferencias y seminarios en diversas universidades y asociaciones científicas como: Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Universidad del País Vasco, Universidad de Alicante, Universidad Pompeu Fabra, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Universidad de Zaragoza, UNED, Banco de España, Banco de Portugal, Humboldt University, Aarhus University, Universidad de California en San Diego, Econometric Society, Western Economic Association, Southern European Association for Economic Theory, University of Toronto y Oxford University, entre otras.

Ha dirigido una decena de tesis doctorales obteniendo en todas ellas las máximas calificaciones.

Ha sido director principal de varios proyectos de investigación financiados por distintas entidades públicas y privadas, entre los que se encuentran la Dirección General de Investigación Científica y Técnica (DGICYT), el BBVA o CaixaBank.

Ha realizado proyectos de consultoría tanto para el sector público como para el sector privado entre los que se encuentran el Ministerio de Economía y Hacienda, el Ministerio de Transportes y Obras Públicas, el Banco Zaragozano o la Caja de Ahorros y Monte de Piedad de Madrid.

Ha sido evaluador para la Agencia Nacional de Evaluación, la Revista Española de Economía, Estadística Española, Investigaciones Económicas, International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Time Series Analysis, Jpurnal of Urbam Economics y Applied Economics. Evaluador ANECA y Presidente de Panel de la Fundación Madrid+d.

Ha escrito para distintos periódicos nacionales como EXPANSIÓN, EL MUNDO, ABC, CINCO DÍAS y La RAZÓN.

Desde 2003 es profesor del CES Cardenal Cisneros, Instituto de Estudios Bursátiles (IEB), Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería de la Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICAI) y EAE Business School.
